Game Round Up

Not sure if I’ve done one of these ever, but figured I might as well talk a little bit about what I’ve been playing recently. I never seem to have enough free time to really play much these days and I tend to feel guilty about it when I do (shouldn’t I be doing something productive?) so it’s rare I get hours of uninterrupted time. That being said, my attention span for games is not what it used to be and I find myself often getting bored pretty quickly. (The above pictured art is by the lovely Aimo, as always.) Reclaiming Space

We had a pretty low key Easter weekend – to be honest, most of Spring Break week was pretty low key, mostly to try to recover from the previous two weeks and their bit of ensuing madness. It was the first holiday in a while where we didn’t have to go anywhere or entertain anyone, and it was nice not to have that level of pressure on top of anything else. One of the things I *did* start this past weekend was the beginnings of a clutter dump. Clutter is hard for me. I’m a packrat by nature, and so is the DH – so our house is full of things that we shove into a corner or a shelf “just in case.” Which is fine, except that “just in case” almost never actually comes. Trust No One

And here you probably thought this post was about the X-Files reboot. 😉 Alas, no – though I’m not above snagging a bit of the original opening credits to use for a picture. I suppose it would also apply to the recent kerfluffle from the romance writing world involving a certain blogger/author, but to be honest, I don’t know that much about it and I’m not particularly interested in weighing in on it. In this case, I’m actually speaking from a gaming perspective, specifically navigating the murky waters of online interaction, particularly when it comes to kids. Bullying, of course, comes in many forms – it’s been around forever – but the way in which it’s done has clearly changed. March Madness

Alas, not about basketball. But madness pretty much sums up this entire month. To be fair, except for the weather, it pretty much started out like a lamb…but it’s going out like a lion. In general, things were looking up this month – we attended the wedding of a good friend, I got invited to participate in an upcoming anthology, I’m out on submission, I’m waiting for a few other things to line up the way they should – in short, life seemed pretty good. I’m not sure where the weirdness started, so I suppose I’ll just begin with the endoscopy. It was a few weeks ago, the doc diagnosed me with a hiatal hernia, took some biopsies and off I go. On Writing Fanfic

When it comes to writers, fanfic can be one of those hotbutton issues. Some authors like it/write it/encourage it – and others treat it like dogshit on a shoe. I have a bit of a love-hate thing going on with it myself. Not because I care if people write it or read it so much as that I have a mental block on it sometimes. Like, I totally understand coming to the end of a book and wanting more – more of my favorite characters, more of that world, more everything. Just like I get wanting to “fill in the gaps” between characters that maybe didn’t get a lot of screen time. All of that makes sense, and I’ll admit to being a rather ravenous consumer of Gargoyles fanfic back in my college years for just that reason.
