Word-Whore ~ Fox and Willow Thursday

Battening Down

It’s a bit of a cluster today with Hurricane Sandy, so I’m just going to keep this short and sweet. First off, my Shindig author chat tomorrow night was cancelled due to the weather – it will be rescheduled at a later time.  (Probably next week.) I’m still trying to figure out if I’m going to be able to make it to Toronto on Wednesday – the storm should be over by then (at least where I am), but I suspect the airports are going to be an utter nightmare. Plus, LBI is currently taking a terrible beating right now – there’s a good chance we’re going to lose the beach house – it’s entirely probably I may be in NJ over the weekend instead to try to help salvage. Shelter From the Storm

Well, since the forecasters are basically making it sound the apocalypse is coming, figured I’d just mention where I’ll be over the next week or so, since who knows if I’ll have power after tomorrow. >_< So assuming all is zen with the electricity, here’s what’s going on: Saturday: 2:30 pm EST – online panel/chat at Coyote Con – The Good, The Bad, The Girly & The Manly – with me, Jeffe Kennedy, Carolyn Crane and Laura Bickle. It’s free, but you do need to register so you can log on to get into the chat. Tuesday – book release day! Huzzah! Today started out with an utterly fabulous fuck-up on my part. Namely, I attempted to update a plug-in on the Sad Sausage Dogs website (you know  – you just click “Update” and you’re done, right? Sure. Unless the update is apparently some sort of massive overhaul that completely changed the database structure and destroys your entire website.) Yeah. I screamed. A bit.  (Actually, it was more of a muffled, “Oh, fuck me,” since I was in the office and that sort of thing is generally frowned upon. Anyway – turns out it there *was* a warning about the drastic nature of this upgrade, but I didn’t see it due to the way I way I went about it in WordPress. But after running over to  the plug-in website and seeing that the changes are irreversible and not to do the update unless you were sure about it and had a back… Read more

Monday, Monday

I’m working from home today, awaiting a vanity. Back in March and April the DH attempted to redo our bathroom himself…and actually did a fabulous job. We were all set to start working on the other bathrooms over the summer. Until the great shower debacle set things back. No, my shower still isn’t fixed. Yes, we’re going to hire a professional to do it. No, we’re not afraid of tackling a larger project…but time is becoming a bit of a factor, and essentially we’re going to have to rebuild the entire thing from scratch (walls, shower pan, new door, etc.), so we’re just going to toss some money at a professional. We’re still going to at least redo the kids bathroom ourselves though, hence me waiting for the vanity today.
