Boatload of Mystery

You know, I’m checking my blog stats today and I can’t help but notice that this site seems to be linked to from another blog: https://cjsecretgarden.blogspot.com. Which is fine, except it’s a closed blog so I don’t really know who they are. Which is also fine. (Hell, I don’t know who a lot of people are.) The irony? The last visit from there that’s linked to me is https://cjsecretgarden.blogspot.com/2010/02/boatload-of-shit.html *scratching my head* There’s a part of me that would really like to know *which* boatload of shit I’m being compared to. A sloop? A catamaran? Perhaps it’s all about schooners packed to the poop deck with horse manure? Although honestly, I’m not sure my ego could handle anything smaller than at least a good-sized Yacht. Ah well. It’s anchors a-weigh for lobotomy bay!…

Hello Kitty Fail – Every Click a Sexy Experience!

I am always on the search for a new Hello Kitty mouse. They break, frequently, and yet I cannot help my most shameful addiction. However, Sanrio-licensed mice are pretty expensive – especially given they don’t usually last for more than a few months. Even so, I’ve paid anywhere between $24 to $50 for the real thing. Given their propensity for destruction, this has led to a fair amount of trolling on ebay for the cheapest Sanrio knockoff I can find. ($6 from Hong Kong? *SOLD*!) Lucy decided to help out with the photo of the latest one there, hence the feet. I got it in the mail this morning, and on first look it’s about standard for a knock-off. HK looks good…but a little off, which I can live with. Certainly, nothing about this mouse screams “sexy” to me. Unless I’m just not looking at it hard enough. But, no!…

Well okay, then. Still can’t give details about the “deal.” Which is fine. I’ve had to push off a few requests for blog interviews until that point, but otherwise I don’t think there’s anything new on that particular front that I can talk about. It is interesting, though. I think a lot of aspiring authors have this feeling that once they have a deal in hand, everything will be perfect. “I can quit my job and write full time!” for example. Which, okay – maybe if you get some massive 6 figure deal, you *can*. But even so, it’s a good thing to keep in mind no matter what sort of deal you cut that 1) You won’t be getting all that money up front – it will be spread out to you in chunks as dependent upon the stipulations of your contract. 2) Your agent gets his/her well-deserved cut…

It’s Called Fiction For a Reason

An interesting topic came up the other day when I was talking to my aunt. I had sent her my ms a few weeks ago, just to get a feel for what she thought of it – we read a lot of the same sorts of books, after all.I’d love for her to love it, but if she doesn’t, that’s okay too. And at the same time, there’s a *lot* of me in this book – the average person might not see it, but knowing me as well as she does, she’s already been able to pick out quite a bit. I feel a little more exposed than I thought I would and that makes me leery about having other family members read it. Which of course, they can do as they like. I’m just not sure I want to *know* what they think. (But then, I’ve always been a…
