WTFkery Friday (sorta NSFW and involving panties)

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , | Leave a comment
It’s been a while since I found something suitable for a good dose of WTFkery. This one is a bit NSFW and the dudebro readers might want to skip this. *ahem* Anyway, I think the picture sorta says it all (and special thanks to Tumblr. Where would I be without your random amounts of wtfkery?) I would probably wear these (*eyeballs the unicorn and Dawn of the Red*) – if you’re interested, check them out over at Hairbrained Design.  Assuming you’re even still reading after these lovely pictures, I’m happy to announce that A Trace of Moonlight got 4 stars over at RT: A Trace of Moonlight is a testament to the significance of sacrifice: Abby Sinclair gives up her life, Talivar gives up his family and Brystion and Phineas (the hilarious mini-unicorn) give up a part of themselves in order to stop a mortal from ruining the world they’ve… Read more

Word Whore Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | Leave a comment
I’m over at Word Whores for my regularly scheduled post – today it’s about favorite TV shows. Stop on by for a warped look at my childhood favs (lots of Marty & Krofft in there, *ahem*) Aside from that, I’ve got an author interview over at Between Dreams and Reality. And Night Owl Reviews was kind enough to give A Sliver of Shadow 4.5 stars and made it a top pick! Also, here’s a little preview image of a rough look at the Fox & Willow cover art (which will be updated when we go live, but I really dig the design of it.) I’m cranking through a rather simple website design and I’m hoping to go live with that in the next few weeks so that we’ve got an actual landing pad for Sad Sausage Dogs. *wipes brow* Who needs sleep?… Read more

Word Whore Thursday

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 1 Comment
I’m over at Word Whores today talking a little bit about my neurotic tendencies dealing with reviews. And speaking of reviews, the blog-o-sphere blew up a bit yesterday with this post over at Authors Helping Authors. The original post was changed since it went up, but as you can see by the crazy number of comments, clearly a nerve was struck. And whichever side of the line you fall on, it’s pretty obvious that it’s a no-win situation, and it’s why authors really shouldn’t go there. Authors and reviewers – we’re all human and we all make mistakes and we all get angry and hurt, but the internet has made it so easy to shove your foot so far down your own throat that you’d be crapping boot leather for a week. There are times when it is really better to just walk away. The Millions had an excellent article… Read more

First Review

Posted in blog | Tagged , | Leave a comment
I got sent the first review of Brush of Darkness yesterday (you can read it over Night Owl Reviews.) BoD was given a lovely 4 out of 5 stars, so color me quite pleased. 🙂 And no, I don’t think I’ll be shouting out about every review I get, but this is my first one so I’m going to give myself a bit of a pass. (And honestly, I’m just grateful that they didn’t hate it – for all that I’ve come so far, there’s still that part of me that’s just waiting to be exposed as some sort of fraud. I imagine that’s a pretty typical feeling for n00b authors, though.) The review does make some valid points about not wrapping everything up…not sure that’s going to get any better by the end of the second book either. *cough* We’ll see. 🙂… Read more

Glimpses

Posted in blog | Tagged | Leave a comment
I’m going to continue my fine track record of never really reviewing books today by mentioning that Glimpses, by Lynn Flewelling, is out this week. If you’re a fan of the Nightrunner series, you won’t want to miss this  professionally published short story collection, which contains a number of pieces (and fan-illustrations) that help fill in the gaps of some of the lives of the characters. For any true fan, most of these stories have been alluded to over the course of the novels, but it’s nice to see some of them finally getting a chance to shine. The stories range from Seregil’s experiences after exile (including when he first meets Micum), as well as the story behind what happened with Alec’s parents. We also get a look at the first real sexual encounter between Alec and Seregil – something that’s been a long time coming, if you’ll pardon the… Read more
