Abby Sinclair Rides Again

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , | 6 Comments
(and I suppose you can take that however you like…there’s a small snippet at the end of the post…) Or more to the point, I’m in the process of writing another Abby book. And while I did say I would do it for NaNo (and technically I am), I’m not exactly aiming for 50k in the month – it wouldn’t be enough anyway, so I’m just focusing on steady progress. I should have about 20-30k done by the end of the month and that’s not a bad start for a series I haven’t touched since 2012. I’ve got an ambitious writing year lined up (for me, anyway) – I’m nearly finished with the draft for Magpie’s Flight, I’ve started Abby #4, and I’ve got a third, unrelated book started that I would also like to rough draft. (And probably at least 2 shorts, but we’ll see how that goes.) I’ve… Read more

Mini WFC Recap

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | 5 Comments
So I’m finally back home after several lovely days up in Toronto for World Fantasy Con. Back being an operative word since I’m fighting a killer cold and trying to catch up on sleep and work emails. But as much fun as I had, it’s always nice to come home to my own bed. So – a few highlights. Toronto was nice, but the hotel was way out of the way of the downtown area, which meant I didn’t get a chance to see and do everything I wanted. Cabs were ridiculously expensive and some friends had cars, but traffic was an absolute nightmare. (Took one friend over 2 hours to get from the city to the hotel one evening, after taking her about 30 minutes going in the opposite direction.) So, to the friends I didn’t get to see, I’m very sorry and hopefully we can work something out… Read more

Happy Halloween!

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , | Leave a comment
Late night post because I spent most of the day in various states of traveling – I probably won’t be blogging too much the next few days. Cons just tend to keep me busy/exhausted/whatever so I tend to slack off. I did want to mention that I’m participating in a Halloween blog-hop this week though. Go here to check out my interview and to enter for a chance to win any of my three books (winner’s choice and open internationally).  Plus there’s an overall prize of a $50 gift certificate for B & N and tons of other author/editor prizes. Go here to find out more and to find the other authors! Otherwise, just a reminder about my reading on Friday at 5:30 if you’re at WFC. (And don’t forget NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow! Get those fingers cracking!) Hope everyone had a great Halloween!… Read more

Updates and Sundry

Posted in blog | Tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , | 6 Comments
Lots of links and catching up to do today, so let me get started.  First of all, I am going to do NaNoWriMo this year! I’ve done it before, but the last few years I was right in the middle of a deadline and couldn’t spare the time, but this year it falls inside a perfect window. I’m working on a new project and I figure it would be a great way to get my ass in gear. If you’re interested in adding me a a writing buddy – I go by mynfel, so feel free to add me. 🙂 (And I’d love to set up some sort of virtual write-in a few times over the month, so let me know if that’s something you’d like to be part of.) As a follow up to Friday’s bullying post – I admit I wasn’t sure if I should post it. After… Read more

Monday Morning Updates

Posted in blog | Tagged , , | 2 Comments
Such as they are. Quick note to say I’m guest blogging over at PJ Schnyder’s author site today to talk a bit about NaNoWriMo. (Ironic since I’m not participating this year, but I *have* won in past years, so I know the scoop.) Also, even though I’m still waiting on the cover, I’ve gone ahead and thrown up a page about A Sliver of Shadow, so if you’re interested in finding out a little more about that, you can see it here. (Once I get permission, I’ll put up a full chapter excerpt.) All the galleys for A Sliver of Shadow are now out, but if you didn’t get one, please drop me an email and I’ll send your information to my publicist and she’ll put you on the list. If we get any rotated back in, we’ll send them out.… Read more
