I’m over at Word Whores today talking a little bit about my neurotic tendencies dealing with reviews.
And speaking of reviews, the blog-o-sphere blew up a bit yesterday with this post over at Authors Helping Authors. The original post was changed since it went up, but as you can see by the crazy number of comments, clearly a nerve was struck. And whichever side of the line you fall on, it’s pretty obvious that it’s a no-win situation, and it’s why authors really shouldn’t go there.
Authors and reviewers – we’re all human and we all make mistakes and we all get angry and hurt, but the internet has made it so easy to shove your foot so far down your own throat that you’d be crapping boot leather for a week. There are times when it is really better to just walk away.
The Millions had an excellent article on reviews this week as well, and some of what they said really struck home for me. (And yeah, PW didn’t like BoD very much either, but there’s nothing I can do about that.)
