A Room with a View

Or maybe not so much.

When I arrived at the hotel yesterday afternoon, I had the interesting surprise of getting up to my room to find the door open and the previous occupants leaving.

The previous having checked in only a few minutes before me.

The couple gave me this harried look and mumbled something about just getting out of my way. The nice hotel employee assured me the room was clean.

“Okay. Then what’s wrong with it?”

He shrugged. “The view.”

Which is to say, there isn’t really much of one at all – unless you consider a set of locked sliding doors that open into a small cement cell much of a view. Personally, I don’t really care since most of what I do in a hotel room is sleep, but I sent Jeffe a text to let her know the view was on the shitty side.  When she checked in a few hours later, she mentioned my concern to the front desk  – who told her I must be joking, since this room was put down as a “lake view”.

Maybe that’s true. If we were out on the roof and I was standing on Jeffe’s shoulders, I’m pretty sure I’d be able to maybe see the lake.

Or maybe not.   It doesn’t matter. We mentioned to the desk that clearly there was something off with that descriptor and they offered to move us. (So in in theory, I’ll be moving to a different room in a few hours.) Which is good since I’d really like to go lie down, but I can’t until they call me.

Alas.
